Utah Eatin' #4

It was the last day to photograph the Midway Ice Castle! My wife and I ran out the door to get up to Midway by 4:00. I've been meaning to photograph it for a while. I had procrastinated and this the day of the season. We arrived to find out they were not going to open until after sunset. I know - night photography with the lights might be cool, but that was not what I was after. I walked around and photographed it from the outside (Story for another blog.) then packed up and left. But that's not what I wanted to talk about. My topic is - we were starving and my wife wanted a hamburger. The solution was not far away. I started the truck and headed to the Wasatch Back Grill and Deli. If you are in the area and up for a burger, this is the place. It's not large and has no drive up window. Yep - you are going to have to park and get out of the car! There are actually a lot of items on the menu, but when I'm there I never get past the list of burgers. Yesterday I was up for the German Burger which had pastrami, and I don't remember what else on it, but it was good. MY wife did a plain burger with the usual fixings. This is not necessarily a fast food joint and the signage tells you that. The cook everything fresh and it shows. The burgers are going to run you about 10 to 13 dollars depending on whether you go for the 1/4 or 1/2 pound version. We ordered 1/4 and left full. The atmosphere is casual and the place seems to be clean. You can order ahead and pick it up to go if you like. Bottom line is the food is good and affordable - no need to go to one of those chain burger joints! Needless to say I enjoyed my German burger down to the last bite! Bona petite!
