My wife and I are recovering from head colds. To ease our congestion we decided to get out of the inversion and drive up to Heber, Utah to visit a favorite eatery, Chicks cafe. As soon as we started up Provo canyon the inversion began to rapidly disappear. When we entered the Heber valley the skies were a deep blue and things were much clearer. Hitting main street in Heber we turned north. After passing the city park we turned left onto a side street just short of the cafe and parked the car. As we walked into Chicks we found it a lot busier than we were used to, but found an empty booth and made ourselves at home. (I dropped the photographs to black and while because the diner reminds me of the places we use to eat while driving across country in the late 1950's). It wasn't too long before we found waters and menus place in front of us. It didn't take too long to order because our preference was the special, a chicken fried steak with real mashed potatoes and white gravy. (You can get brown gravy, but hey this is chicken fried steak so why would you!) The meal also comes with soup and salad as well as a big scone topped with butter and honey. It's a lot of food so my wife and I just shared one order. I added a diet Dr. Pepper. We did ask about pie, but someone had come in an bought all of their pies for the day! Oh well... The food is great and reasonably priced. You can order anything on the menu all day long. After you are done take a little time to visit the pioneer museum on the south corner of the block in the old library building. Their address is 154 S Main St, Heber City, UT 84032
