I know, those of you read my blog regularly have seen this image of the fighting horses before! At the time I posted it I was talking about being selected to be on PPA's Team USA and what a great opportunity it was and of course still is. On the 17th of January I sat myself down in a large auditorium at a convention center just outside of Washington DC. A few words were said from the stage by the CEO of Professional Photographers of America. Then he introduced the CEO of World Photographic Cup. The man spoke to us from Rome via the internet. After a few words he began to announce the World Photographic Cup finalist by category and then in alphabetical order within each category. With all of the talent in this competition I honestly did not expect anything, but none the less I was feeling the suspense. finally he got to the "Reportage" category and began to read off the names. Nine went by and then I heard the words "Ted York" pronounce with his beautiful Italian accent "Ted Jork from the United States". I think I went into shock at that moment. The adrenaline shot through my body and the smile on my face was from ear to ear. I wandered through out the convention center for the next hour not knowing what to think or say as friend after friend congratulated me. I was one of 8 members of the 18 member Team USA that would be heading to Rome in March for the final awards ceremony. I don't know what the final results will be, but as the shock wore off I began to realize if nothing else, I just contributed to the team's score! I also realized I am headed to Rome! Woot! Woot!
