When I was a young teenager I built models of all the US Navy World War II fighter aircraft. One of my all time favorites was the Corsair. It's gull wing design gave it a very distinct look of its own. It didn't help when they came out with a fictional television show called "Baa Baa Black Sheep" about a man called Pappy Boyington who commanded a squadron that flew Corsairs. Last week I spent a couple of days visiting my brother. We went out to visit the Smithsonian air and space museum housed in an expanded hanger at Dulles airport in Virginia. Shortly after walking in I spotted it. Suspended from the ceiling was a corsair. She w as a beaut! Only to be out done when we visited the National Marine museum in Quantico the next day. They had two Corsairs suspended in a beautifully designed building. They were beautiful birds and this could only have been better had they been flyable, out on the tarmac with a tankful of gas and the keys in hand! I took a few pictures. Enjoy!
