It was in September that a representative from the Professional Photographers of America (PPA) contacted me asking me if I would be interested in having one of my images entered into the World Photographic Cup as a member of Team USA. I was so thrilled I could hardly contain myself. What was difficult was I was told not to tell anyone until December 7th when they were planning to make the official announcement. I had to walk around the block to dissipate the adrenaline! December 7th happens to be my wedding anniversary so when I got a call from a friend who congratulated me I responded with, "What for." The day was filled with several calls of congratulations. Fast forward to the PPA's annual convention in January of this year. The WPC CEO announced the finalists for the world wide competition. I will never forget the moment I heard "Ted York USA" pronounced with a beautiful Italian accent as my image flashed across the screen. The final event was rescheduled due to covid restrictions, but it is finally here. Tomorrow I will begin my trip to Italy. My wife is accompanying me and we are planning to tour part of the country before we head for Rome on the big day. I'm so excited!
