Friday afternoon my wife and I took a drive up the Nebo Scenic Byway known to the locals as the Nebo Loop. It's a beautiful winding drive that takes you around the east side of Mount Nebo starting in Payson Utah and taking you to Nephi. The views are spectacular. Normally we start in Payson, but this time we drove down to Nephi and started the journey there. Due to the recent weather I wasn't expecting to see much of any fall color and I was right. What color was left was faded and drab, but no matter we enjoyed the drive. Besides there was a lot of snow on the mountain and photographs to be had if you look for them. At the road's higher elevations we found spots where it was covered with snow and ice. Although the time of day was not great for photography, I still managed to squeeze out a few images, concentrating on light and shadow cast across areas at 90 degree angles from the sun. Light and shadow are the essence of creating the illusion of depth in a photograph and that is what I look for. All but one of the images here were stitched from more than one image to create panoramic compositions. They were all shot with a Canon EOS R5, with an RF 100-500.
