The alarm went off at 4:00am in the morning. That was tough, but I was on a mission! I wanted to photograph Venice at sunrise. The chances of coming up with a great shot were against me. I was not familiar with the Island, sun position, and where to photograph. We were not staying on the island, but rather a nice bed and breakfast a short way from the causeway that lead to the city. One advantage of going so early is we would not have a problem finding a parking spot and we didn't. But we were not the first people up in the city. We headed towards the Grand Canal. I was hoping to find a bridge and capture a view of the canal and some boats with some sunrise color. I was worried that we wouldn't make it. They were predicting rain for the next day so this might well be my only chance. The first bridge we crossed was not in a good position for photography, but from the top I could see a bridge up ahead that would work. When I arrived, the camera and tripod came out and I went to work. The images are similar since there was no time to move to any other spots, but I hope you will enjoy them and let me know which image of Venice at sunrise is your favorite.
