I'm a very emotional guy. When my youngest son tested for his black belt in Tae Kwon Do I was there with camera in hand to capture the action. At one point he had to break a series of boards being held by people surrounding him. When He executed it perfectly I teared up. Wow! I also captured his hand going through a board focusing perfectly on the point of action. Perfect timing on my part, perfect focus on my and my camera's part. The second image involves a trip to the bowling alley. I don't remember the event (A good thing I took some pictures!) My daughter brought along a friend. She was trying to knock down a single pin for a spare. When it became obvious she was going to get the spare the girl went airborne with excitement. I captured the action! Not only did I catch her in midair, I also caught the ball right in front of the pin it was about to drop. The camera I use today has a lot more capability than the one I used back then, having the ability to capture action at 12 frames per second. But these two photographs prove it is possible to capture the action with only the timing skills of a skilled photographer. Timing is everything!
