Painting Memories

I have a friend and client who approached me about a very special project. She had come across an old 4x6 inch fading snapshot of her with her husband who had passed away quite some time ago. She told me because of her grief she had not displayed any photographs of him since his passing. But when she found this picture things changed for her and she inquired as to whether or not I could enlarge the image so she could better display it in her home. Unfortunately the quality of the print was such that I could not copy and enlarge it. (Well I could, but the quality was not be there and results would have been poor.) Wanting to help he I suggested a digital painting. The portrait could be painted using computer software and printed out on canvas then enhanced with paint and texture to create a beautiful rendering of the picture that seemed to mean so much to her. After putting a quote together she decided to move ahead. The first thing I did was photograph the picture to create a digital image. I did some editing to take out some houses in the background and generally improve the portrait. The next step was to send the digital file to Art By Cheri for the actual digital art work. When the finished piece arrived we had the unveiling at my framer's, Stylecraft . It didn't take long for my client to choose a frame and we were on our way home. The finished piece was deliver to me about a week later and I hung the portrait in my friend's home. It was so fun to created this beautiful art piece that has brought back the memories of her sweet husband and the love they had for each other.
