Our family was changing. On this camping trip we didn't have the usual crowd, that is our 8 children. This time all that were present was our youngest daughter and one of her friends. Another family had joined us, made up of my fourth son, his wife, and one of my grandsons, their first child. I woke up early in the morning, as I usually do when I'm sleeping in a tent. I started a fire to ward off the chill. My wife was up soon after and started breakfast on the camp-stove. By that time I was sitting in a chair relaxing a bit, but with the camera on my lap. Next to me was my grandson, wearing a coat and sitting on his father's lap. I pointed the camera at him and started creating some photographs. I got several good ones, but this was my favorite. He is staring at the camera with a rather serious look on his face. I love it because the eyes are the windows to the soul and his eyes just penetrate as you view this image. Not that I don't like smiling faces, it's just that when people smile their eyes start to disappear. I love to see the eyes. He's 8 not too serious. But I'll tell you one thing - he sure loves his grandpa...
