I used to fly jet aircraft for a living. I’ve carried VIP’s, refueled other airplanes in the air and carried over a million passengers in the course of my aviation career. I don’t really get excited about a little pressure. But on this day I was feeling it. These children’s mother was a friend of mine and a very excellent wedding photographer. She booked her children into our Santa Experience and now the pressure was on! To top it off I was dealing with a large family that included a one-year-old! Mom left the room so she would not distract the baby, which helped. Santa and I went to work. While it was not an easy session I fell in love with the baby. She was cute as a button. What really made the session for me was mom’s choice to clothe the kids in white. That gave the photographs a classic look to them that I can’t really explain. When the portraits were done I unveiled their wall portrait at the Intermountain Professional Photographer’s Association Christmas party. The party was hosted in our home and the kid’s parents were attending, expecting to pick up their order while they were here. I took a risk and displayed their 36x24 framed wall portrait for everyone to see. The picture received rave reviews from party attendees. Mom and dad were happy with it too. Like landing safely at the destination I could sit back and smile at a job well done; the pressure was over.
