Not much happens on Christmas in our home these days. My birthday is on Christmas eve. We smoke a 20 pound prime rib and all my kids and grand kids come over for steak and a big holiday/birthday celebration. Naturally nothing much happens on Christmas day. One year we decided to leave early for a trip to California and stopped in Las Vegas to deliver a large family portrait. It turned out to be great fun! (We were amazed to see how many cars were on the road on Christmas day.) Last year a grandmother called and wanted to reserve a session for here grandchildren. They lived in Texas, but were coming up to Utah for the holidays. The kids father had just been deployed to the Middle East and was not going to be home for Christmas. Unfortunately the family was not going to arrive until the 21st and we shutdown long before that to get our orders out for the big day. As I talked to this gal I had a thought and asked her if she would consider bringing the children over on Christmas day. I would still have to check with Santa and make the necessary arrangements. As it turned out Santa was thrilled and the grandmother was very happy to do it so it was set into stone. It turned out to be a wonderful treat for a Christmas day and I'd do it again in a heartbeat! Just because it's Christmas doesn't make it a special day. Serving others and being around family is what makes the day special. Christmas 2020 was a very special day for us and a family that came to visit.
