My family and I were sitting down talking to our church ecclesiastical leader. He gave my daughter some sage advise. "it's hard to steer a ship that is not moving." It was a better way of saying something I've been trying to teach my kids for a long time. You can't sit in your bedroom and wish for something to happen or the right opportunity to come along. If you want to find opportunity you have to start moving down the road. That's when the opportunities will come about even though they might not be what you had in mind at the time. Last post I talked about my being asked to join Team USA to compete in the World Photographic Cup competition. The photograph didn't just appear. I agreed to help teach a class and one thing lead to another. I made many trips out to the desert with hours and hours in amongst the mustang herds. I had no idea where that was going to lead me at the time. Its been a fantastic journey since I hung my Ted York Photography shingle on the door, much of it frustrating as I made to effort to steer the boat. One thing for sure - these images would not have happened had the boat not been moving!
