I always welcome Santa Experience clients into my home before we take the kids to see Santa. It gives me a chance to establish a relationship with the children before we start. This time it really paid off. When we finally walked into the studio both children stuck to mom and dad, being too shy to walk over and wake Santa up. After a moment I waved the little girl over to me. She didn’t hesitate to come because of the time I spent talking her ahead of time. I simply asked her if I could take her over to Santa and she agreed. Holding her hand I led her over to the sleeping Santa who gently awoke and began to talk to the child. Her shyness dissipated at that point and she became lost in the magic. As she relaxed Santa looked across the studio and called her younger brother, who was still clinging to his parents, by name. He suddenly ran across the room and jumped into Santa’s arms and that was that. The session was as fun and relaxing as when I welcomed them into my home. Just one more reason I love to greet the children as they enter my home and talk to them before we take them to meet the man in red.
