This is another image in our series of intimate portraits taken in Italy. I was standing on a bridge over one of the canals in Venice watching a gentleman setup tables outside of his restaurant, preparing for the lunch crowd. He saw me, picked up one of his trays of vegetables and posed for me. I quickly took the photograph, but I still wanted more. Not knowing Italian I pointed to the chef and simply said, chef" hoping it would translate. It took him a moment, but what I was saying finally made sense to him and he repeated back, "Ah chef!" He grabbed the guy an the next thing you know the two of them were arm and arm smiling at me and I had to portrait I was looking for. Another intimate portrait of Italy and a story about two men proud to serve you a fine meal.
