My son had just recently brought his elk down onto his new ranch. I drove out to see them for the first time. It turned into a bit of a family gathering as my son's wife and two-year-old joined us. I was taking a few photographs, as I usually can be found doing. We were standing inside of one of the Elk pens talking. My grandson had taken off and was exploring through the sage. Bored with us he had descended into he own little world, oblivious to our conversations. It was late in the day and I was able to catch him in low sunlight that comes at the end of the day. Anyone can shot these types of photographs. One of the tricks is to expose for the highlights, being careful not to over expose the highlights on his face. Enabling the highlight warning on your camera can help, allowing you to see where the problem is.
